Terms and conditions
1. Provision of Services
A Client may request a quote for the provision of communication consultancy or editing services (Services) by:
completing the online Client contact form which includes:
the name, email address contact phone number and mailing address of the Client (Client details)
the Service(s) requested
the timelines for commencement and completion of the Service
if for editing - an electronic (Word) version of the document (or a current sample for quote request) on which the Services will be undertaken
all other instructions necessary to performing the Services.

The delivery of Services will commence after the Client provides a completed and signed Work Agreement. I will provide an email in response to confirm the Work Agreement and delivery of Services as per an agreed work plan.
I will not agree to (nor be deemed to have agreed to) perform the Services or be liable in any way until I have confirmed in writing that I will perform the Services and have confirmed the timelines.
In providing the Services, the Australian Standards for Editing Practice will be adhered to.
Editing will conform to British/Australian English and follow the Australian Style Manual version 6 and the Macquarie Dictionary.
2. Project fees and late payment fees
The Client must pay all Fees specified in the Work Agreement.
A deposit of 50 per cent of the project total fee may be requested by me prior to the commencement of work. I am under no obligation to commence the Services until the deposit is paid in full.
All invoices from me have a 14-calendar day terms of payment. Clients must inform me in writing if the 14-day calendar terms for payment cannot be met. A late payment fee of $10.00 per week (or part there of) will be applied to payments made after 14-calendar days of date of invoice.
3. Client responsibilities
The Client is solely responsible and liable for:
providing all correct details
all aspects of the Client’s document, including its content, quality, presentation, use and publication
complying with their associated policies and guidelines and all local laws
making full payment of Fees.
4. Quality guarantee
I aim to supply the Services to a high standard.
In the event that a Client finds errors in the edited document, the Client may request that corrections be made under the following conditions:
The Client must notify me in writing of the errors within:
5 calendar days of receiving the edited document for documents with fewer than 50,000 words; or
30 calendar days of receiving the edited document for documents of 50,000 words or greater.
The corrections required must be within the scope of the original Service.
The corrections required must relate the document as originally supplied.
Under the above condition, I will correct the notified errors at no additional fee.
Correction of errors on alterations or additions to any portion of the original document where amendments or additions have been made (including formatting, referencing, text editing and any other aspect of the edit) after I have returned the work will incur an editing fee at my current editing rates reflecting the additional work to be done outside the original agreement.
5. Limitation of liability
I do not warrant that the Services will be delivered 100 per cent free of errors, however, I work with clients to minimise errors.
I am not responsible to the Client or to any other person for any loss (including consequential loss), damage or injury, caused by, resulting from or in any way connected with the Services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maximum amount recoverable by the Client from me in connection with the Services is limited to the Fees paid by the Client for the Service.
6. Cancellation and Replacement Policy
If the Client submits an incorrect file for editing by mistake, the Client can replace the incorrect file with the correct file. The Client must make an additional payment to cover the amount of editing that has already taken place on the original file (if any) at my current rates.
7. Agreement termination
An agreement between me and a Client may be terminated by either party at any time by giving written advice and reasons for the termination. On notice of termination, I will cease work and return any completed work to the Client within 24 hours or as agreed by the parties.
I will issue invoices for any payments outstanding for the work undertaken prior to the termination and the Client will be liable for payment of the invoice.
Amounts paid as deposits prior to the start of the agreement will be forfeited by the Client.
8. Variations
These Terms and Conditions can be varied at any time. Changes that affect Client agreements already in place, will be notified to the Client in writing.
9. Complaints
Clients may make a complaint to me in writing providing reasons, evidence and potential solutions to solve the situation. I will negotiate with Clients to clear complaints.
10. Governing laws
These Terms and Conditions and any agreement between me and the Client are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory.
